Parenting with Superbook

I received an invitation for last May 25 to attend the special screening of Superbook. I missed it.

It was a Saturday and my husband, employed by the church, is busiest on weekends. With the level of activeness my two younger boys have, I’m pretty sure I can’t handle them both by myself if I went ahead and brought them to the event with me.

Still, one of things I’m saving up for is the set of  Superbook DVDs and I’m convinced more than ever that it’s a great investment.

This isn’t my first post on Superbook. If you haven’t read my previous blog, it’s here on this link. I just can’t stress enough how much better Superbook has become.

2 reasons why Superbook is a great investment

1. For family entertainment

Have you ever tried watching your children’s shows with them? To be honest, I’m not really down with all of the shows that they like. Mostly, I just keep an ear out on the dialogues and take a glance once in awhile whenever they’re watching TV.

With Superbook, however, I don’t think I’ll feel the same way. It’s the kind you’d prep the popcorn and the sodas and recline on the couch beside your kids. The animation is current, the script is well-written, I can go on and on. Plus, the Superbook episodes really make the bible exciting, not just for kids.

2. To supplement homeschooling

Since we have boys, I really try to give Jay more time to discuss the bible with our kids. The great thing about Superbook now is that it is more comprehensive; more “explaining” in nature compared to the original episodes.

Through the shows, kids will have a better idea on how life was back during the biblical times. Not only do I feel that they will appreciate the year that they have been born, but it can be a good springboard for discussions through which we can help our kids analyze and apply the biblical principles to their young lives.

I’m no perfect mom. And many times, I fail to show my child how it is to be Christ-like. But that doesn’t mean I give up trying.

When I fall, I push myself to get up from where I’ve fallen, by the grace of God, and try again.  Superbook is going to be a big help in illustrating the things that we’re trying to teach our children.
